Despite the growth of social media marketing, CMOs still have some questions. Social has the potential to connect brands with consumers the world over, but only for those who understand how to use the medium. An infographic from marketing automation provider OutMarket shows us both the good and the bad of social marketing.
The five key strengths of social include:
- More than 80 percent of consumers seek out user reviews when making purchasing decisions.
- Social advertising and social engagement marketing budgets are expected to grow by over 69 percent.
- Seventy-four percent of 16- to 24-year-olds have a ‘need’ to always have their mobile device.
- Ninety percent of the world’s data was created in the last few years, thanks to social networks.
- Twenty-five percent of U.S. television viewers surveyed are more aware of programs because of social media interactions.
These are strong points, but social is still a low priority for CMOs. Up to 50 percent of CMOs aren’t convinced of the value of social, and social media programs are ranked sixth in terms of importance to marketing strategy.
