Thursday is officially Thanksgiving, but for many Facebook users, it is also “Friendsgiving.”
Facebook said in an email to SocialTimes that more than 75,000 events containing the words Friendsgiving or “Friendgiving” have been created, and the social network also shared some last-minute tips for incorporating Facebook into holiday festivities:
- For those heading home, break up the family time by turning on the optional “Nearby Friends” and/or “Nearby Places” features to see who is within close proximity and might be interested in meeting up, as well as where to go–great for finding events and activities if you’re the visitor to town, too.
- Share a 2015 recap: new to the holidays this year, the Facebook Moments feature allows you to create a music video from photos of your choosing.
- Also new to the holidays this year, use Facebook’s photo filters, Doodle and Winter Wonderland sticker pack to get festive with Turkey Day photo posts.
