Facebook Lures YouTube Director of Music Partnerships Tamara Hrivnak

Hrivnak will lead the social network’s global music licensing strategy and strengthen its relationships with the industry

YouTube director of music partnerships Tamara Hrivnak joined Facebook, where she will lead global music strategy and business development.

Hrivnak announced her move in a Facebook post, naturally:

I have some exciting news to share. I’m joining Facebook to lead global music strategy and business development. This is a new adventure for me, and I look forward to deepening Facebook’s relationship with the music industry.

Music is important and it matters–it connects and binds us to times, places, feelings and friends. My career has been dedicated to growing opportunities for music in the digital landscape. Facebook is all about making the world more open and connected, and music can play an important role–I’m excited to join that effort.

Prior to YouTube, she worked with Warner Music Group.

A source with knowledge of the hire told Andrew Flanagan of NPR’s The Record that Hrivnak will be tasked with leading the social network’s global music licensing strategy and strengthening its relationships with the industry.
