Owners of cars equipped with Android Auto no longer have to be off the Facebook Messenger grid while they are on the road.
Facebook announced that Messenger is now integrated with Android Auto, an interface that provides drivers with voice command-enabled access to features such as navigation, music and messaging via mobile applications or built-in vehicle displays.
The social network said:
Here’s how it works: if you have Messenger installed on your Android device, you’ll be able to listen to and respond to messages through the Android Auto mobile app or supported vehicle display. Android Auto will play your messages for you; simply touch the speaker icon to hear the message read aloud. Drivers can give Android Auto voice commands to reply or message a friend on Messenger–no typing involved. You can also touch an “I’m driving right now” button to quickly send this message as a reply. For more information, visit https://www.android.com/auto/.
