Facebook Tests More Variations On Sponsored Stories

Facebook continues to tweak its sponsored story ad format, testing out units that included comments and questions during this past holiday weekend.

Facebook continues to tweak its sponsored story ad format, testing out units that included an adjacent related post, along with the inclusion of comments and questions.

All comments, likes, and answers to questions are contained within the ad units, and not connected to the Facebook news feed.

A Walmart ad running today had collected 852 comments and 19,806 likes as of this writing, completely independent of the retailer’ Facebook page.

While we’ve seen advertising questions appear as self-contained modules on Facebook, incorporating these queries into sponsored stories is novel and could help advertisers further customize this type of promotion.

Readers: Do you think enabling Facebook users to comment on and answer questions on separate ad units will improve engagement?
