Arianna Huffington has a Fearless theme song. With a rap section. Here’s the first verse:
When I was eight, I was so kick ass/
Playing electric guitar with a little kid band/
Wanted to be Hendrix or Jimmy Page/
Full of sugar and spice and puppy dogs tails/
I was fearless, I was fearless
What 8 year-old girl, besides Pamela Des Barres, knows about Jimmy Page? And his whips?
The talented songwriter, Jill Sobule, had been unfairly dismissed as a One-Hit Wonder for her 1995 song I Kissed A Girl, but this little ditty isn’t going anywhere with or without a bullet. Instead of settling for the convenient, fake reference of Hendrix or Page, the genuinely fearless woman would have invoked Memphis Minnie. But the Huffington Post doesn’t seem to be into vernacular culture.
