Environmental Group Scams Reporters With Fake Green PR

Everyone’s trying to “go green” these days, and sometimes it’s hard to determine the fluff from the real deal. A group called Rising Tide Activists took matters into their own hands, setting up a fake PR agency website and sending out news releases to raise attention during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Bali, Indonesia.

According to CNET, the announcement proclaimed, “The U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a high-profile collection of 33 corporations and environmental nonprofits, pledged Monday to slash its greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent by 2050, and demanded that no new coal power plants be built.”
