Effire has just announced that it will soon be selling the CityBook L600, an eReader that’s just beginning to hit the market.
The CityBook L600 is based on a 6″ Sipix screen, and it has Wifi, 2GB Flash storage, a microSD card slot, and it might have a touch screen. Format support includes fb2, fb2.zip, epub, djvu, doc, rtf, pdf, txt, html. In addition to reading eBooks, tCityBook L600 will also have several extra features, including calculator, calendar, and the ability to add your own fonts. The list price in Russia is 4,990 rubles (~$179 USD).
I suspect that the L600 has a touchscreen because an eReader with similar hardware has also shown up here is the USA on the FCC website about a month ago. It had a touchscreen. There’s no word on when it will be available, but the FCC paperwork does give a few hints about the underlying hardware.
