The translator and eReader maker Ectaco has just released a new 39-language translation dictionary as an Android app.
This picture dictionary app draws on Ectaco’s vast experience with translation apps and automatic transactors to create an easy to use interface that covers all the basic situations you might encounter. While it might seem silly to have a picture based system, the pictures make it easier for a lost tourist to get help from a native. Words in a normal translation dictionary might not have quite the same meaning as the colloquial meaning used in a particular country. Pictures get around this problem by letting the user assume a meaning.
You can find the app for $.99 during the first week.
