Donald Trump Is Holding an Off the Record Meeting With TV News Execs and Anchors

Like right now.

Executives and anchors from TV news are part of the carousel of people making their way through Trump Tower, up the elevator and into a meeting today with Donald Trump, which should have started around 1 p.m. ET.

The meeting was spearheaded by Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, and includes representatives from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and Fox News. Our sister site TVNewser has spotted, via C-SPAN’s elevator cam, CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker, anchor Wolf Blitzer, NBC News president Deborah Turness and MSNBC president Phil Griffin making their way up the tower.

Brian Stelter reports that his sources tell him ABC News president James Goldston, ABC anchors George Stephanopoulos, David Muir and Martha Raddatz will also be present.

Since being elected president, Trump’s relationship with the press has largely been one of avoidance. He has not held a press conference following his election, ditched the pool of reporters who follow him twice, with the first time being when he met with President Obama at the White House, and has yet to set up an official, protective pool of reporters meant to go where he goes.

I guess we’ll see what comes out of this OTR meeting…oh wait. Stelter does point out that OTR meetings between the press and President Obama/other gov officials had occurred from time to time.
