Bookeen has been quite busy this past year working in its latest eReader, and today it showed up on the FCC website.
The Cybook Odyssey is based on a 6″ Pearl E-ink screen. It has Wifi, 4GB Flash storage, and a microSD card slot. While it might not look like much, but Bookeen spent the last year developing a faster E-ink screen. It couldn’t actually replace the screen tech, so instead it perfected the screen controller chip and the software running on it.
Bookeen has released several demo videos this year, including one which showed video running on one of its test units. That video ability is built into the Odyssey, making it a highly anticipated eReader.
There’s no word yet on a US release, but many tech bloggers are looking forward to it.
