On today’s social media edition of the Morning Media Menu, GalleyCat editor Jason Boog announced a new writing contest where readers can rewrite the first page of a Victorian vampire novel for inclusion in a digital anthology and other rewards.
The World’s Longest Literary Vampire Remix starts with the 19th-century classic, Varney the Vampire. Explained Boog, “You will rewrite a small section from the book your own unique style (from poetry to Twitter updates to cartoons to imitations of your favorite writer). We will publish the final product as a free digital book (complete with Victorian-era illustrations) that anyone can download.”
Also in the podcast, we discussed new statistics from Pew that show that more people are reading the news on their tablets and smartphones than socializing; and an app called Pint Club that helps you find, tag, and share new beers with friends.
