Cricket Communications is the latest to sign on with LiveWire Mobile to offer a mobile music download service. Now, customers of the unlimited wireless services provider can download a song over-the-air to their phone ($1.99 each or three for $5), download to a PC and sideload to a phone (99 cents each), or get two copies of a song, one for the PC and one for the phone ($2.25).
To launch the new service, which strikes us as too expensive and too late to the party, Cricket hooked up with hip-hop artist and producer Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em to promote his new tune Kiss Me Thru the Phone.
Through Valentine’s Day, ringback tone subscribers can download the track for free and listen to it to two weeks. Also, the first 100 customers to download the track each day during the promo will get it for free and everyone who downloads the song will have the chance to win one of 500 Samsung Jet Set phones and a month of Cricket service for free.
