Coub Video Sharing Platform Launches on Android

Coub

Video re-mixing site Coub has launched its app on Android devices, joining a previously released app on iOS. The platform has seen over three billion video views to date across the web and iOS app, as users create and share looping videos with others in a setup similar to Vine or Instagram. Created videos can be up to 10 seconds in length, and users can add their own music and filters before sharing each video with their friends or the community.

When creating a “coub” in the app, users tap a button to begin the recording, and tap again to stop. Users can also pause in the middle to ensure they’re capturing and sharing only the best content with each upload. From there, users can either stick with the background noises recorded alongside the video, or replace them with a song from their library. Videos can also be customized with a filter for a different visual feel.

After the coub has been created, users give it a caption and tags, and can share it with others on Facebook or Twitter. Coubs can also be given a custom privacy setting, so all users, or only friends can view them.

As a video viewer, the app provides a home feed of featured content, and users are encouraged to follow other accounts to customize this feed. Users can search for coubs based on hashtag, or explore a randomized view of coubs, or even those that are considered “hot” on the platform at the time.

When users find an interesting coub, they can re-coub it to their own account, or post a like to the video. These third-party coubs can also be shared with Facebook or Twitter, as well as through email, text message or direct link sharing.

This Android version of the app has an exclusive feature, as users who operate multiple channels on their account can access and operate all of these channels within the app. While Coub is available for use by consumers, the app is also appropriate for businesses and publishers, who wish to raise awareness for their products via their own channel(s).

Coub is available to download for free on the Google Play store.
