China Unicom Preps for Foreigners at Olympics

China Unicom is hard at work preparing mobile content services to launch in time for the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Recognizing that the country will be flooded with visitors from around the world, the mobile operator is readying services in a number of foreign languages, including English, Korean and Japanese, SMS Text News reports, citing China’s Xinhua news agency. It’s also planning to open an international business center and multi-language hotlines.

The cellco will also be involved in its own Olympic-sized battle with rival China Mobile, which is also gearing up for the summer Games with the promise of a working 3G network before the games begin.
