Bing Searches Now Show Brand Twitter Followers in Ads

If you use Bing to search for things that you want to buy, you might be in for a surprise – the follower counts of the brands showing ads related to your search.

Bing and Twitter have a cosy history that goes back many years. The two recently extended their partnership, adding a new feature to Bing that made profiles and hashtags searchable. Now, Bing is testing ads that show the advertiser’s Twitter count as part of the information returned in the search.

Currently the ads are only showing on desktop and tablets, and it’s not clear whether the Twitter extension is automated or selected by the advertiser.
