It uses the iPhone’s accelerometer and GPS to measure your steps and track your position. A lot of apps do that, of course. Arookoo then adds the elements of rewards for adding step counts, scavenger huts and team challenges. Points and badges are awarded for activities. Stars on the GPS Map can be collected by coming within 60 yards of the landmark.

The Arookoo app also has a website component that lets you check your recent activity and compare against you community.
