Apple Now Has the Third Largest Music Store

The iTunes Store is now third in overall music sales in the United States, with 9.8 percent of market share, according to a recent report by market research firm NPD.

The only two stores ahead of iTunes are Wal-mart (with 15.8 percent) and Best Buy (with 13.8 percent). This means that Apple now sells more music than Amazon, Circuit City, Target, Virgin Megastore, Borders, and other big-name retailers.
