There is a new trend in apps to help the parents of young children track the progress of their babies. Baby Connect, Total Baby, Baby Log, iBabyLog, Evoz, among others let parents input information about their babies, such as their sleep habits, dirty diapers, crying and any signs of illness.
The app will build of database out of this information and parents can use the data to analyze their babies and compare their babies behaviors to other babies.
The Atlantic explains that one parent, “imagines that this crowdsourcing will provide an early-warning system to help parents determine what is and isn’t out of the ordinary: ‘He’s in the 50th percentile, he is perfectly normal.’ Or ‘This is in the 99.9th percentile. Maybe this is not normal.’ It will be a way, she says matter-of-factly, ‘to debug your baby for problems.'”
