Fox’s plan to “interrupt” its commercial breaks with animated vignettes would have pleased Andy Kaufman on several fronts. The move further blurs the line between commerce and content, and Kaufman was all about breaking down barriers (as well as goofing on Elvis when the opportunity arose). Plus, Fox’s animated clips will feature “Oleg the taxi driver,” and Kaufman rose to fame on TV’s Taxi, portraying a cab mechanic of elusive ethnicity. Also, Oleg somewhat resembles the late comic (whose death some die-hards believe is a long-drawn-out piece of performance art).
