Maybe it’s the lingering influence of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, but Americans associate Minneapolis with urban safety. In a Gallup poll released last week, adults were asked whether they regard 14 big U.S. cities as "safe" or "unsafe." Minneapolis had the highest "safe" vote (78 percent), with Seattle (75 percent) and Dallas (70 percent) filling out the top three. Detroit was at the bottom of the "safe" standings (33 percent), with Washington, D.C. (37 percent) and Los Angeles (38 percent) faring just slightly better.
