Here comes the bride (and the advertising)

Bride
Man, this is uncanny. A friend of mine was telling me about her plan to finance her wedding through advertising, and then this couple goes and does it. Not in an obnoxious way—there weren’t big Pepsi banners everywhere or anything—rather, they “decided to ask cake decorators, calligraphers, wedding planners, musicians and others to donate services in exchange for free advertising at their wedding.” Not a bad idea, considering how expensive weddings are. They handled the advertising in the same way a convention would—“a list of vendors who donated their services could be found at each place setting. A table in the cocktail area carried a display of brochures and business cards. The couple also acknowledged vendors on their wedding Web site.” It’s easily the most tasteful and practical way to sell out that I’ve seen in quite some time. Of course, they could have just an inexpensive, simple wedding. But this is America. Photo by Wiseacre.
