If you’re one of those people who thinks prescription-drug commercials have gotten out of hand, you might want to have a gander at this LiveJournal collection of vintage ads. As hard as it may be to imagine, quaaludes, ether and lots of other stuff that junkies abuse in dark alleys today were once the stuff of top-dollar advertising. Copy from some of our other favorites: "Tyrant in the house? Thorazine can control the agitated, belligerent senile." And the always-popular "Mabel is unstable." Suddenly, the four-hour erection disclaimer doesn’t seem nearly as bad.
