As ironic Web sites go, Save Martha was a pretty good one. Yes, they sold T-shirts, aprons, mugs, etc. But it was nicely designed, funny and exhaustive in its Martha Stewartness. On the flip side, we have Free Katie, a Web site supposedly devoted to rescuing Katie Holmes from Tom Cruise and Scientology. “McLaughlin Cameron Designs invites you to join the movement to liberate Katie, a young, gifted, actress held captive by forces we may never understand,” the site says. “Even one summer of captivity is too long for one so bright!” But the content is weak and self-serving, the design is poor, and you get the sense that all they really want to do is make a quick buck from the store. We wonder what the Free Mumia people think of an embarrassing spoof like this one.
