While it may seem like the entire ad world is in Cannes in late June, that’s not the case. Somebody’s gotta mind the store while the adverati swan about the Carlton Terrace. It’s no different at McCann Worldgroup. Still, it was a little jarring to see this invite to the agency’s party at the Eden Roc, a way over-the-top cliffside hotel in Cap d’Antibes. It’s written from the perspective of an anonymous junior creative left behind while the bigwigs cavort. “When you’re all getting drunk, I’ll probably be writing a banner ad, or revising a banner ad, or re-writing a revised banner ad. Which is fine. Because I’m not one of those people who likes parties and fun, apparently.” I wonder how the real junior creatives feel.
