Voice of Geico fired for anti-Tea Party tirade

DC_Douglas

As a professional voiceover artist, Lance Baxter (aka D.C. Douglas) should've known there's no such thing as freedom of speech when someone else is footing the bill. Baxter, who voices the famous line "15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on car insurance," has been sacked by Geico after leaving an angry voicemail for conservatives at FreedomWorks asking if they are "mentally retarded" and what they plan to do if one of their members kills someone. (The answers, by the way, are "Mildly" and "Dump the body in a lake.") Baxter readily admits he's not so swift himself, because he left his phone number and demanded a call back, sealing his fate with the insurance giant. Now, he's got a clip on YouTube (posted after the jump) called "Tea Bagger Boogie," which recounts the whole affair. Baxter is not the voice of the Geico gecko. That's Paul Morgan, who should think twice before launching into a Cockney tirade against the Tories.
