Victims of abuse don't get fairy-tale endings

Here's a disturbing little video about domestic violence, from French director Jérôme Genevray, that shows a little girl telling her mother's story in the form of a fairy tale—only the narrative quickly begins to turn grim, and the tale veers inexorably toward a very unhappy ending. The brutality of domestic abuse and the innocence of children are often juxtaposed in this way—memorably so in last year's Finnish PSA which showed a girl re-enacting with her dolls the same abuse she is suffering at the hands of her mother. That spot dealt with children's mental health, an issue that often goes hand in hand with problems of violence in the home.
