Fail Britannia! VisitBritain Tourism Ads Put on Hold Overseas

Judi Dench, Dev Patel, Rupert Everett, Twiggy and Jamie Oliver are featured in VisitBritain's current ads? No wonder there's rioting in the streets. All kidding aside, the British Tourist Authority is pulling its latest advertising videos from overseas markets, explaining to the Guardian that in light of current events, "They are not appropriate at this time" (something Levi's also decided this week with its ads inside the U.K.). Predictably, parodies are rushing to fill the void. The clip below mixes riot footage with celebs voicing the (now sadly ironic) "You're invited" tagline. It's the most violent tourism ad parody since Jimmy Kimmel skewered Vancouver after Canucks fans rioted after the Stanley Cup Finals. British tourism ads of any kind may soon be passé. By the time things calm down, there might not be much left for visitors to see.
