KTTC anchor Tom Overlie is “stepping back” from anchoring at the Rochester, Minnesota NBC affiliate.

The station said he is “turning his attention to family and other creative endeavors.”

He started working at KTTC in 2000. His last newscast will be on Thursday March 28, 2024.

“It’s with mixed emotions I’m stepping away from the news desk. KTTC has been my home for 24 years, and my colleagues have been my extended family,” said Overlie. “It’s a place I feel I’ve grown as a journalist and news anchor; I often think about how fortunate I’ve been to share the stories of people in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.”

Overlie will still host trips for KTTC through a partnership with Collete Travel. He took viewers on a trip to Iceland in 2023.

“Tom has not only raised the level of journalistic excellence in this market, but he has also been an integral part of KTTC’s culture of respect, compassion, and trust. We all are so thankful for his leadership and his dedication. While Tom might not be on the anchor desk daily, he will continue to be an important part of the station. We are excited to see what this next chapter holds for Tom and KTTC,” said KTTC vice president and general manager Stephanie Hedrick.

Caitlin Alexander will be joined by Brock Bergey at 6 and 10 p.m. Bergey joined KTTC as an anchor in 2023 after working in several Wisconsin television markets. Alexander joined KTTC in 2016 as an evening anchor and was promoted to executive producer in 2023.
