ABC News’ Good Morning America has once again reclaimed the top spot from NBC News’ Today as America’s most-watched morning show in the ongoing seesaw ratings battle between the two morning shows.
A difference of 47,000 total viewers propelled GMA over Today during the first week of March. ABC News’ morning show was also the only broadcast that saw week-to-week gains in total viewers and the advertiser-coveted Adults 25-54 demo.
Not only did Today lose its No. 1 perch, but it was also the only morning show to see declines in both measured categories relative to the prior week.
According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 2.741 million total viewers and 476,000 A25-54 viewers for the week of March 3. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show was up by +2% in both measured categories. Looking at its performance alongside the same week in 2024 (the week of March 4), GMA was down -5% in total viewers and -16% in the demo.
Today fell back to second place in total viewers, but it remained the No. 1 morning show in the demo, with 2.694 million total viewers and 668,000 A25-54 viewers. Week-to-week it was down -1% in the former category and -2% in the latter. Year-to-year, Today dipped -4% in total viewers and -1% in the demo.
CBS Mornings finished the week with 2.021 million total viewers and 373,000 A25-54 viewers for a flat result in the former category a +4% bump in the latter. Compared to the same period in 2024, the morning show was down -10% in total viewers and -17% in the demo.
