Chatman Named First Chief People Officer

The HR vet is tasked with building an exceptional workplace experience that facilitates personal and professional growth for all Martians.

The Mars Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of Vashti Chatman as Chief People & Culture Officer, a new position tasked with leading our efforts to build an exceptional workplace experience that facilitates personal and professional growth for all Martians.

A proven human resources leader with nearly 20 years of experience across ad tech, market research, manufacturing and other industries, Chatman joins the agency at a time of unprecedented growth: thanks to a steady stream of new business wins and scope expansion with existing clients, the Martian ranks have more than doubled in the last three years.

“We’re extremely excited to be adding Vashti’s expertise during this exceptional period of growth for The Mars Agency. Her leadership will be critical as we continue growing organically and through acquisition, both in the U.S. and around the world,” said Rob Rivenburgh, Global CEO of The Mars Agency. “Our people are the most valuable asset we have, and we need to continue providing all the resources and opportunities they need to flourish with us.”

In the new role, Chatman will oversee all aspects of the agency’s People & Culture initiatives, including talent acquisition, training and development, succession and performance management, and diversity, equity & inclusion.

More strategically, she’ll be charged with developing innovative ways to support the agency’s high-performing, highly engaged workforce and building a dynamic, inclusive culture that lets employees collaborate, create value, and thrive. The Mars Agency recently earned “Best Places to Work” honors from both Ad Age and Inc. magazine.

Chatman comes to The Mars Agency from global research and analytics firm Big Village, where as Global Chief Human Resources Officer she guided a full-service HR function while also consulting on key strategic activities for the executive leadership team and board of directors.

At The Mars Agency, she herself will be a member of the executive leadership team, partnering with senior leaders to identify and implement effective practices and advising Rivenburgh on all people and culture matters globally, including the integration process for future corporate acquisitions.

Chatman is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management,  the Insights Association, and the Chief network of female executives. She will be based in Cincinnati.
