YouTube Extends Production Space Program to New York Follows similar outposts in L.A., London and Tokyo

YouTube is headed to New York. The Web video giant said at VidCon on Thursday that it will open a production space in the Big Apple for video creators.

It's part of the YouTube Space program; the company has similar outposts in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London.

"It's going to be a place where we can really bring together creators and advertisers and YouTube staff to learn, to share and create. We're pumped," said Tom Pickett, vp of content at YouTube. The New York space is set to be located in downtown Manhattan and is expected to open in 2014.

YouTube also said that it had commissioned more than 100 instrumental songs for video creators to use free of charge. The YouTube audio library is an effort to make rights issues easier to navigate, explained Pickett.
