TNT has locked up Southland for a third season, ordering 10 new episodes of the once orphaned cop drama.

The cable network picked up the rights to Southland in November 2009, following its abrupt cancellation by NBC. The show debuted on April 9, 2009, to 9.86 million viewers and averaged 7.44 million viewers over its seven-episode broadcast run.

Since TNT picked up the slack, Southland has found a home in the network’s Tuesday 10 p.m. slot. While it’s been an unspectacular draw for the Turner net, averaging 2.14
