Discovery’s Planet Green has made another staffing raid on Sundance Channel, tapping Laura Giacalone as vp of marketing.
In her new role, Giacalone will work to further the strategic vision and direction of the network, which launched in June 2008. Giacalone also provides creative brand leadership and manages consumer marketing programs and integrated partnerships.
Since 2005, Giacalone had served as director of marketing for Sundance Channel, where she steered all consumer and affiliate integrated marketing campaigns and helped build the network’s digital and on-demand platforms. The move reunites her with former Sundance Channel head Laura Michalchyshyn, who in March joined Planet Green as president and general manager.
“Laura has a proven ability to create memorable campaigns using traditional tools in an unexpected way, which is exactly what we at Planet Green are doing with the brand,” said Rob Jacobson, senior vp of marketing for Planet Green, by way of announcing the hire. “She brings knowledge and experience––specifically in the digital world––that enhances our marketing efforts in making new inroads to connect with consumers.”
