NBC Universal and Intuit have launched cross-platform ad campaign to promote the latter’s TurboTax software.
The campaign connects NBCU programs and talent to TurboTax in integrated custom spots featuring the tax preparation software. The spots began airing last week during NBC’s prime-time sitcom Community, and will run throughout the month of February.
In each spot, someone is seen doing taxes in unexpected places, demonstrating the ease of using TurboTax. In the Community spot, for example, the program’s Ken Jeong does his taxes in the middle of a deductible “business lunch” with his cast mate Jim Rash.
The network is also creating dedicated commercial pods in certain shows for the TurboTax integrations and 30-second brand ads. The pods begin with a custom 30-second spot leading into a TurboTax brand commercial. The pod ends with a second custom promo driving viewers online to the show’s Web site, where they can view extended online video content from the program and learn more about TurboTax. The online presentation includes customized pre-roll ads featuring the same talent from the on-air commercials.
In addition to the broadcast network, participating NBCU channels include USA, Syfy, Bravo, Oxygen, Weather Channel, the net’s Everywhere Out-of-Home platform, sports programming and an array of digital outlets.
