NBA Finals Game 5 Nets 17.3 Million Viewers

Game 5 of the NBA Finals on ABC on Sunday night (June 15) in which the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics, averaged 17.3 million viewers between 9:05 p.m. and 12:11 a.m., and18-34 and 18-49 demo ratings of 7.2, making it the highest-rated and most viewed show of the night, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

It was the highest-rated Finals game during the past two years, and the highest-rated non-clinching NBA Finals game in four years.

Through the first five Finals games on ABC this year, viewership is averaging 14.5 million people vs. 9.3 for the comparable number of games last year, an increase of 56 percent. And adults 18-49 ratings are average a 5.9, up 61 percent from the comparable number of games last year.
