James Corden Is Ready for The Grammy Awards

He tells Ben Tracy he's been dreaming about them for the past month

Capping off a week of CBS This Morning special reports about The Grammys, the network’s Los Angeles-based national correspondent Ben Tracy sat down with the host of this weekend’s 59th annual affair.

There’s no doubt The Late Late Show host and Carpool Karaoke whiz is eminently qualified to make good on any impromptu Sunday night moments. As well as perhaps take time to pay tribute to George Michael, who helped launch the musical-comedy side of Corden’s stratospheric career in 2011.

But from a personal point of view, Corden told Tracy the highlight of the night is already written. It involves someone responsible for 147 million Carpool Karaoke YouTube views and counting:

“I have a huge soft spot for Adele, only because I’ve known her a very long time. I consider her to be a very good friend of mine and my whole family’s really.”

“I feel incredibly emotional if I think about the fact that this person who I love and respect, and seeing her just become this artist who almost defines the music industry at the moment. And the fact that she’ll be there and I’m going to do this thing, it’s really, really nice.”

Corden, who hosted the 2016 Tony Awards and 2015-16 Hollywood Film Awards, is taking over on the Grammy stage for LL Cool J, whose smooth and unwavering approach was a different kind of perfection. Mama says, ‘Knock it out of the park James!’
