Several Belo stations, including WFAA, the ABC affiliate serving the Dallas-Fort-Worth market could go dark on Charter Cable beginning Jan. 1, 2009.

Other stations that have failed to come to a retransmission agreement with Charter include WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, KMOV-TV, the CBS affiliate in St. Louis and WVEC, the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Va.

In Dallas, the standoff is the result of two years of failed negotiation between the two companies. WFAA is seeking a penny a day per subscriber from Charter to air the station’s signal.
