Robin Williams' Daughter Returns to Twitter

When much-loved comedian Robin Williams died last month Twitter, and the internet as a whole, mourned. Tributes poured in for the late actor, with many Twitter users sending well-wishes to Williams’ family and sharing positive thoughts.

However, not everyone was quite so caring. Indeed, Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda was subjected to such repeat harassment and bullying on Twitter that she stepped away from Twitter entirely.

“I’m sorry. I should’ve risen above,” Zelda Williams wrote on August 13th. “Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye.”

Yesterday, Miss Williams returned to Twitter, with a heartfelt quote that she shared from her Tumblr blog.

“Never be bullied into silence,” reads the post, a quote from actor Harvey Fierstein. “Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no-ones definition of your life; define yourself.”

The attacks on Zelda Williams became so severe that it was one of the reasons that led to a change of company policy from Twitter, who have said that they will now remove photos and videos of deceased individuals if a request is made from an immediate family member.
