More than half of U.S. adults are active on two or more social networks, favouring different platforms for different interests, reveals a new study.
140 Proof surveyed online and mobile users aged 18-59 about their social media habits and found that 52 percent use multiple social networks, with 28 percent using just one and 20 percent using none at all.
Of those that were active on two or more networks, more than half (56 percent) had profiles on four social channels, and 30 percent were participants in six.
72 percent of respondents agreed that certain platforms were better suited to different interests, with Facebook ranking well for food/dining, brands/companies and hobbies, Twitter for celebrities/gossip, brands/companies and technology, while Pinterest was favoured for home decor, fashion/style/beauty and hobbies.
The poll also found that 61 percent of users had un-Liked or unfollowed a brand, with 18-34 year-olds most likely to have disconnected.
