72% Of Adults Use Social Media (And One In Five Use Twitter) [STUDY]

Almost three-quarters (72 percent) of online adults in the U.S. now use social media, suggests new data from Pew Internet.

This represents a significant rise from when Pew first carried out this research in February 2005, when just 8 percent of online adults were active in social channels.

Moreover, close to one in five (18 percent) of online adults now use Twitter, up from 8 percent in November 2010, and a full two percentage point rise since February of this year.

Combined, of course, and counting Twitter as a social site (which I personally think we must do), this means that nine in ten (90 percent) of online U.S. adults are active in social networking.
