Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey Receives Death Threats from ISIS for Deleting Accounts (The Next Web)
A post purportedly written by ISIS supporters is threatening Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey as well as company employees because the terrorist organization’s accounts are frequently deleted from the microblogging service, reports BuzzFeed. The post was uploaded on JustPaste, and features an image of Dorsey with the cross-hairs of a gun superimposed on it. It reads, “Your virtual war on us will cause a real war on you.” Business Insider The post is written in Arabic, though Google translate (not entirely accurate) paints a basic picture of what it says. One extract reads: “Jack helpless when their necks officially become a target for the soldiers of the Caliphate and supporters scattered among your midst.” The word Caliphate has both religious and political connotations and describes a strict Muslim government led by a Caliph, a successor to the prophet Muhammed. NBC News In a statement late Sunday to CNBC, Twitter said only: “Our security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials.” Dorsey was tweeting to his almost 2.9 million followers Sunday night but had not noted the alleged threat.
