Scholastic Uses Apps To Expand Reading Experience

Yesterday Scholastic launched a new line of interactive kids’ book apps for the iPad. The launch brings three new titles to the iPad including: I LOVE YOU THROUGH AND THROUGH, THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS: OCEANS and GO, CLIFFORD, GO!.

For Scholastic, both a publisher and distributor, apps help support their digital book collection. These apps are not digital versions of the books, but instead provide digital experiences to complement the print titles and have games based on the stories.

“This is not too much unlike what we have done with video and TV programming,” says Jeff Mathews, VP of business development at Scholastic.
