Mobile app store GetJar, which claims some 20 million downloads a month, is giving developers another reason to add their applications to the store – the ability to make money from their wares.
The company has rolled out something called GetJar Ads, a pay-per-performance advertising service that enables the developers to display contextual ads while their apps are being used. They earn money when consumers click on an ad. GetJar Ads offers both text and banner ads from the GetJar network.
According to the company, it pays some of the highest returns in the industry. That should make the 200,000 or so developers using GetJar very happy.
Additionally, GetJar is running a promotion for developers that will help them secure up to 1,000 new downloads. More details are available on the company’s Web site.
