Trailing in the ratings for its 5 p.m. news, WNBC-TV, NBC Universal’s New York flagship, is trading news for lifestyle and entertainment features. Beginning Sept. 14, the station will launch LX New York, a live, locally focused lifestyle show produced by LX.TV, NBC Local Media’s production house.

For WNBC, the station that first launched “Live at Five” in 1980 as an alternative to its competitors’ syndicated programming and movies, the move advances NBC Local Media’s strategy to embrace lifestyle programming during the week.
