NOW Introduces First Local TV iPhone App

News Over Wireless, the mobile division of Capitol Broadcasting Company, introduced the first local TV iPhone application Thursday (Jan. 8). WRAL-TV, CBC’s CBS affiliate in Raleigh, N.C. was the first of NOW’s 114 local media partners to officially launch the application on Jan. 6.

Available to iPhone users free of charge, NOW’s well-organized iPhone app offers top national and local news stories, video news clips and weather (even Doppler and satellite views).

Advertiser-supported, national advertising is handled by NOW’s network, while the TV station sells to local advertisers.

Within days of the launch of WRAL’s iPhone app, it has been downloaded “thousands of times,” the company said in a press release.
