Tribune filled its general manager vacancy at WPIX Wednesday (Sept. 1), naming Eric Meyrowitz vp and general manager of the New York CW affiliate.

Meyrowitz succeeds Betty Ellen Berlamino, who left the station in June.

Since 2004, Meyrowitz has served as vp and general manager of WDCW-TV the company’s CW affiliate in Washington, D.C.

“Eric is the right guy for this job. Even more so because he’s originally from New York, he understands the city, the importance of local news and the rich tradition of WPIX,” said Jerry Kersting, president of Tribune Broadcasting.
