Finishing third overall for the evening was CBS with its encore combination of How I Met Your Mother (#4: 3.0/ 5), Rules of Engagement (#3: 3.3/ 5), underrated Criminal Minds (#1: 6.0/10) and CSI: NY (#2: 5.8/ 9), which will be moving to Fridays at 9 p.m. this fall out of relocated Medium. ABC populated the night with two repeat episodes of The Middle from 8-9 p.m. (8:00 p.m.: #3, 3.3/ 6; 8:30 p.m.: #4, 3.2/ 5), repeats of Modern Family (#4: 3.7/ 6) and Cougar Town (#4: 2.8/ 4) from 9-10 p.m., and another burn-off episode of canceled Happy Town at 10 p.m. (#3: 2.1/ 3). Mirroring the era of The Bob Newhart Show, which was never creatively recognized because The Mary Tyler Moore Show aired at the same time, worthy The Middle is lost in the hoopla for Modern Family. Compared to the year-ago time period average, Pretty Little Liars built by 1.0 million viewers (1.5 to 2.5 million) and as much as a whopping 541,000 among teens. Pretty Little Liars now stands as cable’s top-rated original series debut of the season in females 12-34.-Top Tier in Syndication for the May 2010 Sweep:Based on AA (average audience) household rating, CBS Television Distribution was home to 8 of the top 10 rated syndicated shows in the recently concluded May 2010 sweeps.
