H-A's Fred Young to Retire

Fred Young, Hearst-Argyle Television’s senior vp of news, will retire from the company at the end of the year, concluding a 46-year career in the business, Hearst-Argyle announced Monday (Oct. 13). He will continue to serve in an advisory and consulting role following his retirement.

Brian Bracco, currently corporate vp for news, will succeed Young, taking on oversight of the group’s news operations in 26 markets, as well as the Washington, D.C. News Bureau.

In addition, Barbara Maushard, news director for WESH-TV, the company’s NBC affiliate in Orlando, will join the group news team, relocating to Hearst-Argyle’s New York City headquarters as vp of news.
