Telling authentic stories on television about the gay experience has always been tough. Telling stories about the gay experience from an African-American perspective remains tougher.

And that was the subject of a panel discussion in March, held at the Writers Guild of America, West. Entitled Flipping the Script: Beyond Homophobia in Black Hollywood, the near-capacity crowd event explored homophobia and racism not only on screen, but off-screen as well.
Among the speakers were director-producer Paris Barclay (Glee, In Treatment) and actor Wilson Cruz (My So-Called Life).
